So you want to get rich but can’t afford to buy some real carp/arowana – without worrying that they will die and wasting your money.  So the best solution is to get the above – because according to chinese feng shui – represents ambition and aspiration.  The carp is a symbol of abundance and is great for not only money but career luck and good fortune.   But I’ve seen these arowana in people’s office as well – so I guess you can also give this to a businessman.

The spouse owns a business and I’m constantly looking for ways to make the store a better business to make more money, therefore, I always check the feng shui of the store.  I always remind the spouse – who is an “ang moh” aka westerner – that the environment of the store is very important to everyone in the store and the customers.  I remind him that our store cannot be too dark nor too bright.  . Making the store look alive, vibrant is very important – because a store looking like it is depressed or struggling does not attract your customers. The smell of the store is important too – but hold on a minute – if you own a clinic – or a pharmacy – you don’t want your clinic or pharmacy to smell like vanilla scent right?  or do you?  well you get what i mean.  Looking fresh is also important – but what if you own a antique store?  Yes – all these have to be taken into consideration – when a person walk into your store – what does the customer/s think?  happy? sad?  depressed?  yes all these you have to think about.  I always tell our employees – that it’s show time – when they come to work – regardless of what is happening at home – don’t bring it to work – but some just don’t understand this.  Feng shui plays an important part – so it is important to make them aware of all these.

So I read on Forbes the other day that even big advertising company like StrawberryFrog from New York had their offices in New York renovated but not without thinking about Feng Shui.  I was pretty pleased about it – because if I were to move to a new store for my business – I too would think of the feng shui for the store to bring in wealth and health – wealth from the customers and health for us the owners as well as employees.  But more so harmony amongst workers and also employers and employees. Like mentioned on the Forbes website – the principle of Feng Shui is all about harmonizing the environment around you – so that the positive energy can work for you and yours to benefit you and not against you.

So while we are all worried about having our bathroom aka your toilet  – the place where you take your dump at your wealth corner – Master Joey Yap said that it’s alright and that it’s an old practice misconception?  really ? wow!!  this was news to me.

While I always keep our toilet seat down – and closed the toilet door – Master Yap said that flushing the toilet does not mean that you are flushing your wealth away.  He believes in activating your stars correctly to help with all aspect of your life.  And encourages those who practices feng shui to focus on the good Qi flow of one’s home and business.  Interesting indeed!

There are some franchise opportunities opened recently around town and someone had asked me how they would know if the franchise is going to be a good business opportunity.  Is the location a good place?  Is there anything wrong with it – will taking over the franchise be a good investment.  Yes, lots of questions were asked during lunch today and as much as I would like to tell my friend that it was a good opportunity – there are many factors to consider.

I’ve always wanted to own a franchise – at first it was the Body Shop – but the Body Shop Canada – didn’t want to lease out its franchise – so I didn’t think much about it.  But what’s good about owning a franchise?  it’s already a known business – and people knows that it’s quality we are talking about – and a name they can trust.  And yes, if you are investing in a franchise – the locality is important but more importantly to do your practical work before trying to feng shui something you don’t own yet.  So yes !  you want good business – it is best to know how people will receive the product you are bringing in.  Good luck !

Every Chinese home has a Choy San because the Choy Shan is said to be of great help as it attracts good luck, prosperity into one’s life. So by placing the Choy Shan facing the door of your house or business entrance it is say to improve the money part of your life.  So if you are wishing for a prosperous month or even a year – hurry out and get a god of wealth and place it according to the bagua map.

Lucky money – you know us chinese – we have lucky money for all occasion and all season – so we get a lot of “ang pow” money after some time.  So my kid asked me – is it unlucky to use the “lucky” money?   from what i understand – one can definitely spend the money in the red packets aka ang pow.  They are money given to one to symbolize cash coming into one’s life.  And if you don’t use it – it is just paper.   However, if you receive a red packet from a very rich man, like a big tycoon, and you do not need to spend the money, it is a good idea to keep that particular note in your wallet the whole year through, as it encompasses wealth chi from the tycoon. If you do get money like that, don’t bank it into your bank account. Keep the actual note, as a good luck talisman in your wallet, or to go in your wealth vase. As for the packets, it is all right to throw them away after removing the money inside.

So I heard that personal grooming can shape your feng shui success luck!  what do I know about it?  actually not much when it comes to this topic.   But we all know that personal grooming is a big thing when you work for anyone.  I remember we had an employee many years ago – who would dressed up like she was wearing a PJs to work – and no make up and no coming of her hair. She was even younger than I – but if I could tell her the truth – I would have asked her to get some best wrinkle cream to aid with grooming for her success – because she wouldn’t change her dressing nor try to be presentable – we had no choice but to let her go.   But with feng shui – I heard that it has to do with one’s personal element and it has to do with your birth chat and then using the Kua number to identify those element and make it work with the four pillars elements.

According to what I read on Joey Yap’s blog – the good dates to activate the wealth star for the year 2011 – to receive the God of Wealth  is on Chinese New Year’s day itself.   The auspicious time is between 3am – 4.59am – and you have to face the South.  For me – it means that it is on Tuesday – 2nd 3pm – 4.59pm.  So what do one do to receive the God of Wealth – i hear you asking – now that’s a very good question.  Read up in a follow up post soon.

Like all business – we want return customers – we also want to take the example from a company that we order kohler parts – they offer same day service and a return policy that you gotta love.   They do special orders and so do we and you can call them for help 7 days a week.  I wished we have as many inventory as they have but we are but a small store.  But yes! we want to take a page from this company and hope to be a better business with better service for all our customers.  After all, we want to succeed in our business and expand if possible right?
